The Polar Plunge has become a meaningful family tradition for Roeser Project Manager Steve Lauer and his daughters, Hannah and Paige Lauer. And we are proud to see that the girls are carrying it forward.
Paige first took the leap alongside her dad at Creve Coeur Park in St. Louis some years ago. And what began as a shared experience quickly turned into something more — a personal commitment to raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO). This year, Hannah Lauer joined Paige in supporting this cause.
This year’s plunge was held in Maryland Heights, and the conditions couldn’t have been better: bright and sunny overhead with the freezing waters of Creve Coeur waiting. Despite the intense cold, the event's significance was equally undeniable. Every person who took the leap was supporting Special Olympics athletes throughout Missouri.
Paige set a personal fundraising goal of $2,000 and exceeded it, raising $2,080 thanks to generous supporters. Adding to the excitement, Hannah’s team earned the distinction of being the top fundraisers of the event, bringing in an impressive $12,435. It was a powerful example of what community support and the commitment of willing participants can accomplish.
The Maryland Heights Polar Plunge as a whole raised an incredible $105,448, surpassing the event goal by $15,448.
The Lauer family's ongoing participation highlights the unique appeal of the Polar Plunge. This isn't solely about facing frigid water; it's about consistent support for a life-altering organization.
