A Kirkwood couple contacted Roeser Home Remodeling for a kitchen renovation. With our design-build process, our team of professionals, including our director of design, Brandi Ward, involves the client along the way.
This couple had a very small kitchen that opened to a family room. They also had three children who were in middle and high school, so they wanted more room. The homeowners love to work side by side, but the small U-shaped design was only large enough for one person to cook or clean up.
Our team worked around existing windows and a door leading to a deck. The family enjoys entertaining so other priorities included plenty of counter space, appliance must-haves and more storage.
The kitchen was primarily designed around the appliances, some of which come from the GE Café series in White. Beautiful quartz, Ellipse Ardito Calcutta, was chosen for countertops. We suggested carrying it up as the backsplash. Although the white palette was beautiful and the result was stunning, it lacked “pop” for this fun couple.
To add contrast and interest to the design, black was introduced. GE Café Series includes white appliances with black and gold. Black cabinets, black range hood, and black fixtures brought out the beautiful veining in the quartz without overpowering.
Drawers and frameless cabinets from Showplace Evo collection allowed for the much-needed storage.
A long black island grounds the space and the adjacent white cabinets keeps the kitchen from feeling closed-in.
The bar area was designed with upper cabinets in black and the base cabinets in white. This provided continuity in the kitchen design and enhanced the triangular color palette of white, black and gold.
Lastly, the hardwood flooring was laced in to match the existing flooring in the rest of the house.
This award-winning kitchen garnered Brandi Ward second place in the Showplace Cabinetry contest for “Large Kitchen” design.
