What is the remodel timeline for a kitchen renovation? It’s one of the most common questions we hear from clients. Whether you want to know so you can plan an event, or you simply just want to know when your home will be back to normal, here are a few guidelines that can help.

Roeser Home Remodeling of St. Louis understands the frustration that comes with any kitchen remodel timeline. Let’s face it. This is our business and we are excellent at what we do, but this is your life, your home, your peaceful abode, even your sanctuary.

So, what’s the bottom line? How long is your home remodel going to take?

Every Project Has a Different Remodel Timeline

At Roeser Home Remodel, we know that you work hard for your money. It will not be wasted and no matter how large or how small your home remodel project, value will never be compromised. With that being said, it only makes sense that a home remodel project with an estimated cost of $100,000 vs a project estimated at $400,000 will have different timeframes.

General Steps

Planning

The most fun you’ll probably have is planning your new kitchen and how you want it to look. The design phase allows you to pick and choose your new appliances, flooring, countertops, paint colors, and one of the best parts, new kitchen cabinets.

Think about it. You know what you want and you want it yesterday. The reality of it is that once your home remodel vision is conceptualized and the design begins, you got it.

But remodeling inventory that is in stock vs. custom order materials obviously will have a different timeframe. For instance, if your home remodeling dream is custom kitchen cabinets, made to order, then it will take longer to achieve the dream.

Permitting

No matter where you live, and St. Louis is no exception, if you begin a kitchen remodel project, there will be permits involved. Roeser Home Remodeling will work with you and make sure all permits are acquired in a timely fashion. We want your kitchen remodel timeline to stay on track.

The variable here is you are working with city or county government employees to obtain the necessary permits. Many times there are homeowners’ associations that will also need to give the go ahead for a home remodeling project.

Roeser Home Remodeling of St. Louis believes that the best way to deal with variables and complete your kitchen remodeling project in a timely fashion is to be simple and straightforward with our clients. We are polite, professional, and accommodating to your needs as a homeowner. After all, this is your home, where you live and spend quality family time. We do not want the home remodeling project to take one minute longer than necessary.

In general, the steps are usually the same for most remodel projects. Here’s a general outline of your kitchen remodel timeline.

Removing Your Kitchen

The first step after you have made all of your design decisions is for the existing kitchen to be taken out. This demolition phase includes removing your existing cabinets, flooring, countertops, and appliances. This process prepares your kitchen for your new look.

Mechanicals Installation

This part involves the installation of the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.

Flooring and More

Next is the installation of the insulation and drywall. The drywall is prepped, installed, and primed so that your kitchen is ready for the next phase of the remodel. Your new floor is also installed during this phase.

Countertops and Cabinets

Now it’s time for one of the most exciting parts of your kitchen remodel and this part means you’re nearing the end and almost ready to be finished. The cabinets are fitted to make sure they’re perfect, without gaps or unevenness.  Head to Wellborn Cabinetry’s Inspiration Gallery for more ideas.

If you selected granite countertops, they are fabricated, which takes around 10 days. Once they are fabricated, the slab is created, delivered, and installed.

Almost Done

Now comes the part where your hardwood floors are finished, the plumbing fixtures are completed, the final trim and your backsplashes are done, and painting is started and completed. Your kitchen remodel is now in the homestretch and it’s almost ready for you to use.

Final Phase

The final phase of a kitchen remodel includes the installation of your electrical fixtures and new appliances. Once that is done, the cleanup is completed and you can finally use your new kitchen.

Keeping it Stress Free

We suggest making some other arrangements during the construction phase of your remodel. Expect more microwave and takeout meals.

Keep an open line of communication. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Roeser Home Remodeling of St. Louis believes that the best way to deal with variables and complete your home remodeling project in a timely fashion is to be simple and straightforward with our clients.

We are polite, professional, and accommodating to your needs as a homeowner. After all, this is your home, where you live and spend quality family time. We do not want the home remodeling project to take one minute longer than necessary.

Even in the best of circumstances, your home remodel will take time. So let’s talk about your expectations. Roeser Home Remodeling does not want to leave you in the dark. The dark can be scary. We believe in open, honest communication.

Variables

When it comes to a kitchen remodel timeline, no matter if you live in St. Louis or the surrounding areas, there is one word to keep in mind. Variables. In the home remodeling world, this word means change. There are certain things that can change and affect the timeframe of a home remodel.

The three most common variables are project design, budget and permitting. Our team will be in communication about any changes in the timeline, as the project moves forward.

How Can a Homeowner Help?

As a homeowner, there are certain steps that you can take to expedite the kitchen remodeling timeline.

This includes:

  • Having a clear vision of what you want.
  • Being as detailed as possible.
  • Minimize any changes once the home remodeling project has begun.

Anything that is changed once the work has started will cause a delay to the final timeframe. Insist on deadlines and weekly project updates.

Are we there yet? You won’t even need to ask. As a customer of Roeser Home Remodeling, you will already know. Your home remodeling project might not be done yesterday, but it will be completed in a timely fashion, with professional, courteous and skilled craftsmen, giving you the home remodel of your dreams…even with all of the variables!
