Are you ready to update your kitchen?

Roeser Home Remodeling has a long-standing commitment to preserving homes and keeping families in the homes they love. Joe and Cindy Roeser began their company in 1985. Since then, they have been helping homeowners in the greater St. Louis area create the homes of their dreams. Take a look at how the team of designers, architects and carpenters updated this couple’s kitchen.

The Homeowners

When this Town and Country couple became empty-nesters, they decided it was time to update their kitchen. They weren’t sure what the future would hold for them – would they stay in their home? Would they sell and downsize? – so they wanted to make sure changes were timeless, not trendy. They also wanted to save a little money in the process.

Our team of experts were happy to work with them on all counts.

The Kitchen Design

The kitchen already had a well-organized layout, so we didn’t have to do a lot of remodel work. The entry into the kitchen from the house’s living space was widened to include a more open feel to the floor plan.

Keeping much of the cabinet layout the same and not taking the cabinets all the way to the ceiling was a cost savings to this already large kitchen that didn’t need any extra storage. An island was added to add counter space for multiple cooks.

The Cabinets

Choosing cabinets is a big decision when you’re remodeling a kitchen. When it’s time to update your kitchen, you need to consider your budget, the overall look and feel of your kitchen and the cabinets’ functionality, such as having a Lazy Susan turntable for deep cabinets.

We carry cabinets from the Wellborn Cabinet Company in Alabama. They produce quality cabinets in a variety of lines. It’s also family owned and operated, something we value in our own company.

Choosing cabinets can be a daunting task, so with input from our designer, the couple chose maple cabinets in the Sonoma Series with a Glacier finish from Wellborn’s Premier Line.

The Wellborn Premier Line

Wellborn Premier cabinets are a mixture of style, fashion, quality, and art. They may cost a little more, but you’ll get great style and quality. These cabinets have a 5/8-inch dovetail drawer design to ensure durability. In addition, drawers are designed with a soft close mechanism.

The Wood

Maple is a hardwood, best known for its durability and shock resistance, making it a good choice for kitchens cabinetry.

The Finish

A cabinet’s finish defines its style in a big way. Finishes can be paints or stains, with hundreds of applied techniques to choose from, ranging from Thermofoil to glazes, to antiquing. What you choose will depend on the look you want and your overall décor – country? Luxurious? Simple? Light or dark?

This couple chose the Glacier finish on a recessed style cabinet front. This combination is very popular and goes will with every trending style, something the homeowners were looking for.

The Island

Grounding the design while maintaining some continuity, the island cabinets were from the same Wellborn line, but the finish was Sienna Charcoal. This pulled the space together and gave it a nice warm appeal.

The Natural Elements

The homeowners love the natural elemental look and feel of granite. They chose 3cm Andino White Granite for the entire kitchen.

Adding a focal point to the beautiful Wellborn range hood, the backsplash is brick veneer by “Brick-It.” Choosing the Vintage styling with a natural gray mortar mix compliments the entire kitchen and brings all the elements together. It certainly is a focal point to enjoy!

The Appliances

The homeowners supplied new stainless-steel appliances. The exception was the beverage center cabinet just right of the refrigerator.

The Finishing Touches

It’s the finishing touches that make a difference, whether you’re talking about fashion, architecture or remodeling a kitchen. Think of the little black dress. It’s when you add a pop of color with a lime-green scarf or set off the neckline with an eye-catching brooch that makes it unique.

The details that set this kitchen apart from others are the lights, plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware. The oil-rubbed bronze five-light fixture and pendant lights blend perfect with the Delta Cassidy faucet and Top Knobs cabinet hardware.

Re-finishing the existing flooring and staining it darker updated and warmed the space.

Conclusion

These homeowners were ecstatic with their kitchen remodel. The smart selections they made and the thoughtful design of the remodeled kitchen’s layout will shine many years into the future.
