Roeser Home Remodeling Contributes to Operation Clean Stream

by | Sep 1, 2017 | Events

Operation Clean Stream takes place once a year and goes a long way in protecting our wildlife from hazardous pollution.

We are proud to announce one of our very own members lent a helping hand in keeping our environment clean. Mark Talley, Roeser’s production coordinator, participated in this year’s Operation Clean Stream.

During the fourth weekend of August each year, the Open Space Council for the St. Louis Region organizes Operation Clean Stream. The operation itself is one of the largest and longest running river renovation projects in the country. At this event, volunteers gather to undo the damage caused by flooding, careless littering and the unlawful dumping of trash.

In order to pick up the waste, volunteers travel in rafts & canoes through the Meramac’s main channel and tributaries. Some of the other volunteers cover the shoreline by foot, too. At the end of the day, the team covered a remarkable 500 miles of river area. They also volunteered over 1,000 total hours in the process.

This year, Talley’s group recovered about 90 tires, a newspaper stand, the front end of a car, 55 gallon barrels, and more.
